NEHAWU Scores A Major Victory At Dube Tradeport

Wednesday March 16, 2022

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] in KwaZulu-Natal has scored a major victory for its members at Dube TradePort.

The union had issued the employer with a notice to strike which was to commence on the 15th March 2022. Upon receiving that notice, the employer requested to meet with union with the intention to avert the strike. The employer put the following offer on the table;

• 6.3% of basic salary across the board to all workers who are in the bargaining unit which is from Grades A to C. This 6.3% percent will be paid in lump sum and will be calculated against the current basic salaries not that of the period in question.

The offer has since been tabled to our members and has been accepted. This therefore means our strike at Dube Trade Port is officially over.

NEHAWU will continue to fight for the improvement of salaries and working conditions of its members and workers in general. Our members can rest assured that they have a fighting union on their side. We will continue to wage a relentless war to protect workers interest and their gains in all sectors we organise.

END
